Yee-Hawhhhh! Round 'em up for Fort Worth.

You wanted a new thread, you got a new thread. Much like the Tyler draw, the Fort Worth 4.5 draw lacks alot of the star fire power. I would honestly have to say at this point I would think the winner will be an unseeded, unknown player. I can't see JD winning and I haven't seen enough of Yien to be convinced he can take a major either, though his backboard style can definitely wear an opponent down in the Fort Worth heat, if the Heat Index rule is not in effect. I hate that rule, and honestly it is the reason that I do not play Fort Worth anymore. If you can't play 3 regular sets in the heat, then stick to your cozy Thursday night league if you ask me. The only seed that I could actually see winning this thing would be Adam Cherry. He is a poor man's Jason Gound and can stay out there all day with his consistent round house shots and "gladiator" never say die attitude.

5.0 should be easy. If Tim Green does not win this one, then he probably is tanking. I hope he does win this, I know he has done well there in the past, though he is not much of a heat warrior. Doesn't really matter when you can count a draw size on your hands and have 2 fingers left over (long way of saying 8 man draw).

Further south, Conroe actually has one of the strongest 4.5 draws it has had in quite some time. Schmucker and Leach should both be at the top of the favorites list. Not sure why Chris picked this drive for 100 points instead of Fort Worth's 400, but to each his own. Good luck to both of those guys at Conroe and to everyone else playing this weekend. Remember to wear lots of sunscreen and try to enjoy the cramping.

I almost forgot, the 4.0 draws....nah, I didn't forget.

Thats right Journeyman you were born a 4.5

I am in a buddy's wedding on Saturday night in Atascocita. Based on my play this year, I probably could have played Ft Worth and still made rehearsal on Friday night, but I thought "what the hell" Conroe sounds like fun.

Anonymous said...

Hey Leach, it is always a pleasure to see you play down here. Good luck in Lake Conroe tourney. Watch out for them alligators.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Conroe is usually a nice tourney if you do not mind the rippled courts at April Sound and the HOT HOT HOT weather. Walden is a great facility, but April Sound has gone down in the past years.

Anonymous said...

Thanks. Yep, I hope to have full body cramps at the wedding. If a ball goes in the lake, I'm sending my opponent in.

Picks for lake conroe:

Men's Open - Alex Bitoun
Men's 4.5 - Greg Schmucker
Men's 4.0 - Matt Schlensker
Men's 3.5 - *&^% (meaning I don't know & I don't care)

Journeyman, you were once a 4.0 so why all the hate?

Anonymous said...

4.0s the bomb. I have not problem with it. It is just a running joke that probably only I find funny.

Anonymous said...

You no journeyman. You no blue.

Anonymous said...

Mens Open - Alex Bitoun??? He will be lucky to get passed his first round against Wanja, and if he does succeed, Hasker will beat him out of consistency. Take a look at Bitoun's record over the past couple of years, I doubt he would win 4.5 singles.

Anonymous said...

Leave Alex Bitoun alone, he is my friend.

lord - thread is for a MZ, and some crappy Conroe tourney takes billing.

Anonymous said...

Blog is for H-town tennis not D-town tennis. Go to their blog to talk MZ.

I think we are aware that this is a Houston blog.

"Go to their blog to talk MZ" - You do realize this is a thread about the FW MZ tournament, don't you?

5.0 prediction - Green
4.5 prediction - Kern

Anonymous said...

Looks like I play a guy who plays for Southwestern. He also has the coolest name. Should be a blast.

Anonymous said...

People are talking about Conrow because this is a Houston blog, and who would drive 5 hours to play a tournament when they can play one in Conroe?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, this is a Houston blog... either post a negative comment about Kallus, or find another blog.

Anonymous said...

Leave Kallus alone, he is my friend.

Leach, here's how to win lake conroe tourney. Just throw all your opponents in the lake and grab the 1st place trophy buddy!

Anonymous said...

This blog is SO dead without Lord of the Strings commenting. Is it just me?Or is this blog done?By the way, congrats on playing and doing well in a REAL major zone, instead of that joke of a tournament in Fort Worth. You'll beat Smith one of these days, and great win over Alfonso Rodriguez!

Anonymous said...

It's more like "sumbitches" to be exact.

Anonymous said...

Journeyman, whatcha got against them poor bastard 4.0s that you didn't mention them in you FW blog?

Anonymous said...

Dinker and Herb have defaulted from the first round of the 5.0 doubles draw because of the Friday 2:30 match time. It will be interesting to see if they still get doubles points from the other matches.

Anonymous said...

nice name your playing Leach, hope he does not pull out a sword and ask to duel. Guess his parents are fans of the Three Musketeers.

Anonymous said...

4.5 winner will be Wayne Morgan. Open winner will be Shaun Maddox.

Anonymous said...

i'm a believer in the fact that anything can happen in this game. i've been on the winning and losing ends of some pretty big comebacks in my time around the game. so while making predictions is fun and all, you just never know who is going to come out a winner.

Anonymous said...

Are you talking about Wayne Morgan from Lake Jackson?

Anonymous said...

Any one want to rub oil on my belly? I've got a lot of pent up love to share.

Anonymous said...

Journeyman, do you have any oil?

Anonymous said...

JR stop airing you dirty laundry on this blog. I love this blog and you dirty it up.

Anonymous said...

Kallus will share some oil with you

Anonymous said...

JR that’s disgusting, I like that.

Anonymous said...

I bet Kallus would even rub the oil on your body, that is of course if its not to "windy"

Anonymous said...

Picks for Fort Worth MZ:

Men's Open - Daniel Omana
Men's 5.0 - Tim Green
Men's 4.5 - Jason Kern
Men's 4.0 - Forrest Feuille

3 out of 4 right...Not bad, now what are those lotto numbers again...

Anonymous said...

This is a tennis blog, not the "Days of JR and Kallus's life together"

Anonymous said...

Hopefully, now that the Ft.Worth MINOR zone is over.We can now focus on a real tournament like sectionals in beautiful San Antonio! Is Alfonso going to play 4.5?Or 5.0s?It's going to be a huge turnout in ALL the divisions. As far as that goes we don't care about Reader's "smoking habits"as long as he keeps teaching tennis as well as he does.I think the fact that people bring up personal stuff about him is tacky and rude.I think he is an incredible player and coach so none of that stuff even matters as soon as you meet the guy. Those of you that have even talked to him one time know what I'm talking about.Too bad you'll probably never read this, but you'll always be Lord of the Strings to us ladies.

Anonymous said...

I like the sound of that "Fort Wort MINOR ZONE"...Congrats to all the winners of FW MINOR ZONE.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Kallus, JR, and Casas will rub oil eachother and have a wresteling match

Anonymous said...

Thanks. I just threw up my lunch and all of last week as well.

Anonymous said...

That is sick, I like that.

Anonymous said...

Leave Kallus, JR, and Casas alone. They are my friends.

Anonymous said...

Kallus is a tool.

Anonymous said...

Who would win in a 3 way battle between JR, Kallus, and Casas in a LUBED up Wrestling match? New poll Journeyman????

Anonymous said...

You are really sick, I like that.

Is anyone traveling to Beaumont to play the Labor Day Classic at the end of August? I believe it is the longest running tournament in Texas, maybe the nation.

Anonymous said...

It will be too damn HOT to play that tourney. I think I pass.

Anonymous said...

Beaumont and Austin will both be hot. Only thing that sucks about Austin is it starts on Friday, and Beaumont starts Saturday.

Anonymous said...

it won't be any hotter than Conroe was last weekend, and we all made it through ok. c'mon, i thought you guys were die hard tournament tennis players.

Anonymous said...

I will be playing one or the other. Prefer the starting times on Saturday, so Beaumont would be the logical choice in regards to that, however, Austin always picks up a better draw.

Anonymous said...

Austin is better by far, but if you are going for points then head East young man, head East...

Anonymous said...

Its just about tennis for me, not a point chaser, but if I happen to qualify for the MASTERS then I do. Played it last year, and honestly, it was just another tournament with a different format.

Anonymous said...

There are several good reasons to come to the Beaumont Labor Day Tournament

1.It is the only tournament in the state that I know of that offers prize money to winners. In the Open Division, Men and Woman Open Winners take $500.00 and second place takes $250.00. In the lower levels, the money is smaller but hey, it is better than a plastic tennis trophy

2. Beaumont Labor Day starts on Saturday, you won't have to miss work on Friday

3. Traffic is not near as bad as Austin and the locations are not nearly as spread out

4. If you lose the first day, the casinos and the beach are nearby

So come on over to Beaumont and play some tennis and save Austin for the Courtyard Classic

Mike, you make a good use car salesman. Well put.

Congrats to Daniel Omana for winning FW Men's Singles Open draw.
Omana is a little man with a BIG HEART. Fun to watch and a solid tennis player.

Who farted?

whoever smelled it dealt it

Anonymous said...

It was probably one of the guys who was involved in the LUBED up wrestling match.

Anonymous said...

bye the way Kallus won the wrestling match, hands on. (I mean hands down)

Anonymous said...

This blog sucks without Lord of the Strings putting in his 2 cents...

Anonymous said...

No suprise this blog is headed for doom, ever since Reader logged out. As foul mouthed as he was,he still kept me wanting to read on.He brought a lot flair to this blog and backed up his comments by putting his name.Plus he backed up his talk with a hell of a game. That's what's missing. How sad.

Anonymous said...

Do you think that the blog might be dead cause there is nothing going on for the next month? I only stopped by on my way to the USTA site to check updated rankings. There won't be much else to talk about until September, like it or not. Whoever it is that is obsessed with juvenile gay jokes is definitely doing his part to kill this blog. It would be one thing if any of his posts were even remotely, but they are not. "Oil wrestling" - Ha, Ha. I hope your tennis does not suck as much as your shitty attempt at humor.

Dont be mad cause you didnt get invited to wrestle with Casas, I'm sure he will room with you in sectionals, or at least play doubles with you.

Anonymous said...

Please keep these conversations focused on Texas Tennis Tournaments. I agree with the previous blogger about Reader's contribution to this blog. He speaks his mind and backs it up with some solid tennis. We got Beaumont and Sectionals coming up so the chat will pick up eventually. Stay cool and watch out for Edouard.

Why so much hate and anger towards Red & Alan? What did they do?

Anonymous said...

Thought this was a Tournament Blog. Who care what they do they don't affect Tournament Results. If you want to talk trash about them go to the League Blog you whiners. Tournament Players DO NOT Care about Ratings. Take a Walk League Talk.

Brandon, I thought you left the country for a 2 yrs assignment overseas until I saw your name pop up in this weekend tourney at Lee Le Clear. Welcome back buddy and good luck this weekend.
