By popular demand....Sarosh....Sorry, I mean San Antonio Major Zone....

For my part I will already step in and agree with the fact that Trautman should take the 4.5 singles and Reader should take 5.0 if he will refrain from getting drunk the night before the finals like he seemed to do last year during this tourney. Trautman's opponent in final? Is Schmucker in the other half? Did Casas sign up? Sanchez warrants a few votes. In other words, I haven't really looked at the draw but I saw from the last string that you guys were ready to start a new one. The Schmucker/Kern poll has been a lot closer than I would have thought. I won't say which direction I lean in. Finally, I agree that whoever keeps posting that Sarosh can't make it past the round of 16 at a major zone is either dilusional or just trying to stir things up. I haven't even seen the guy but I can tell by the tone of most the comments on this blog that he must be the real deal. If that is not enough, the fact that he played successful line 1 league tennis on a 4.0 league that went to nationals should validate the fact that he is at minimum a strong 4.5. If he really was a top junior in India and was playing 3.5s two years ago then I agree that the guy is a joke as a person even if he is quite skilled as a player. Be a man and limit your sandbagging to one level down if you please. Anyway back to San Antonio. Any takers that Schmucker doesn't make the trip? He is 1 for 1 in Major Zone no shows so far this year. Though in his defense I don't believe that not showing in Abilene had anything to do with facing Cox or Kern. Schmucker won 2 major zones last year so I find it hard to believe that he would be ducking away from 4.0 players. Anyway, if I get the chance to look at the draws perhaps I will be back with more comments (as if anyone cares) if not, please start blasting away, there are plenty of egos that need to be either stroked or deflated by the community of "anonymous". You guys do realize that the majority of people post on here anonymously and that it is not just one or two people (even in the case of Sarosh bashing) as some of you seem to be alluding to. But again it is all in good fun....until someone cries. Then I guess we will have to shut this thing down so that no tries to call my mom and tell on me.

I think Trautman should win the 4.5and the winner of Henry and Thomas will probably win the 5.0 at San Antonio.

Getting back to Sarosh, I think Journeyman does have a point there that if this guy played line 1 singles at league and went undefeated without dropping a single set all the way through Nationals, then he must definitely be a solid 4.5 for sure.

Irrespective of what we all have to say, I think we definitely need to take Sarosh as a serious contender at 4.5's this year!

Anonymous said...

Anybody notice Trautman gets a guy from MO first round who has done decently in open tournaments there. Not sure how that equates but could be an interesting start to the tournament. Hope you guys have fun, wish I could be there. That was a fun one last year, nice courts.

Anonymous said...

Hmmm, that Bruno guy from MO sure plays a lot of tennis. Seems to dominate (I will pay you a royalty for using your word, Greg) against other 4.5s but has a tough time against 5.0 rated players. Should be interesting.....

Jason Warren against Flint Bourgeois will be a fun one too.

Definately wish I was playing...I am just sitting around getting fatter.

Hey Journey Man -

I loves your blog!

Make fun of anyone and stay anonymous!

Long lives Journey Man.

My picks for this tourney are,

Thomas Reader - Men 5.0 Singles
John Trautmann - Men 4.5 Singles

and

Sarosh - Women 2.5 Singles (anything to get a trophy, right buddy)

Only a couple of hours left and the poll sits at 22 in favor of Kern and 22 in favor of Schmucker. If you don't vote you can't complain right? How come there was not an option to vote for Schmucker to sign up and then not show for the match?

Anonymous said...

Hey Journey Man,

I'm not dilusional or just trying to stir up things. I'm stating facts.

Fact no. 1 - Each 4.5 match in MZ is same as or better than a 4.0 Final Rd.

Fact No. 2 - Ahmed does not have the conditioning of some of the elite 4.5 players to go 4 or 5 Rds
in a 4.5 MZ tournament

Fact no. 3 - Ahmed will find out quickly that his ass is going to be spanked hard at or before Rd. of 16 in a 4.5 MZ tournament

Those are the facts and I can't wait to teach his ass a lesson if he has "The Balls" to sign up for a 400 pts. MZ tournament.

Anonymous said...

You do realize that with the exception of the Coke and Sectionals, getting to the round of 16 basically means you won match (32 draw) or showed up for your 1st match (if you had a bye). I assume Sarosh would show up if he signed up and would win his Friday match and at least his 1st Saturday match regardless of conditioning. That alone puts him into either the quarterfinals or semis. Again, the Coke and Sectionals are bigger draws and stacked with good players so those would be tougher. I have little doubt Sarosh would win a Abilene, SA (Feb), or Corpus MZ if he were to enter. This guy kicked ass at league sectionals so I assume he had to play 2 or 3 matches in two days against much better competition than the run of the mill tournament 4.5. Like I have said, I have not met Sarosh and do not respect him based solely on the fact that he was sad enough to play 3.5 two years ago despite being a top junior. But results are results and what he has accomplished convince me he would have no problem with 4.5 MZ tennis.

Anonymous said...

Based on all the insight, I'm guessing that Sarosh would make it to the semifinals atleast at the coke (provided he signs up for it).

The draw for Sunshine cup is up and I see that Sarosh has to play 3matches in 2 days. It will be interesting to see if he completely dominates or just manages to win in close matches.

He will probably be playing Brandon Halm in the final who won the lost forest 4.5 last week.

Anonymous said...

Just the facts...
Fact 1 - Just not true based on my experience from last year. I know Abilene is possibly the worst MZ but people were saying it had a tougher draw this year. Ken Ratana made it to the semis (won 2 matches) and he didn't make a final last year in 4.0. I'm not sure he even made a semi.
Fact 2 - Sarosh's fitness would be an issue in 4.5 as there are not as easy matches as in 4.0 but he has proven he can win the biggest draws in lower levels (not exactly the same but he does have stamina)
Fact 3 - I certainly don't think Sarosh is unbeatable at 4.5 but nobody is going to "spank him hard".
Please at least see someone play before you start stating facts instead of opinions. I've played Sarosh and I've played Trautman and if Trautman truly is one of the top 4.5s out there then Sarosh will do fine. If there are 16 people who outclass Trautman then I'll have a different opinion.
Don't want to be anymore dilusional than I already am. Enjoy your bashing.

Anonymous said...

I doubt if Sarosh can even take Brandon Halm down. It would be a lot of fun if he ends up loosing to Brandon after all the hype surrounding him!

Brandon, please don't let us down. We are counting on you taking down this so called champion :-)

Anonymous said...

Kern, are you saying that in your eyes Trautman and Sarosh are almost the same level?

Anonymous said...

Let me first say that many who know me think my estimation of how comparable people are is suspect. It is hard for me to compare Trautman and Sarosh because they have VERY different games. Also Sarosh plays a completely different game from me and therefore I don't know what Trautman would do against Sarosh (come in, stay back etc) My point was Sarosh is better than I am and I don't feel like Trautman spanked me (others may disagree) therefore I don't think Sarosh gets spanked. I know that you can't always use that formula but that is my opinion after playing both of them.

Anonymous said...

Who cares about Sarosh! He will not play any tournaments this year except maybe the Coke. He has a family now and perhaps spending time with them is way more important then listening to all the whiners on this blog.

I think a lot of players will put off the Major Zones because of the high costs involved. San Antonio charged %36 just for singles. I think it's sad to play in a tournament with fees closing near $40.

Anonymous said...

Sarosh was a world ranked junior, im sure he can win in 4.5. Hes probably similiar to the top 4,5 level players, and you could even argue that he should be playing 5.0 I do agree that he is a total tool for playing 4.0.

Anonymous said...

Hey Kern,

You are a cool dude man. I don't have a bone to pick with you so please stay out of bashing that SOB who only likes to play 100 pts. tourneys and declear himself undefeated for '08.

Anonymous said...

I don't expect to see Sarosh playing a lot of major zones but from my one brief on court experience with him, I think he would do just fine. Would he win every tournament he enters? Probably not. But I do think he would consistently get to the semis or better.

Anonymous said...

sarrosh is a real good player. his line calls are terrible though. he is a bigger cheater than david highland.

Anonymous said...

Being a worse line caller than Highland is a tough accomplishment - one that you don't want to achieve. Let's give some honorable mentions to those worthy of this award...

Anonymous said...

Well tomorrow the San Antonio Major Zone starts. Heard the weather will be nice there over the weekend. Well I still don't understand why San Antonio has three Major Zones and Houston only has one?

Other news I don't think Schmucker will be going. He has the flu and it would surprise me if he attempts to play there. Sucks for him because I know he wanted to go.

Anonymous said...

San Antonio is centrally located in Texas and therefore would be the ideal location for lots of MZs.

Anonymous said...

One of the best ways to cover up our defeats is to blame it on bad line calls :-)

We all do it at some point or other. Moreover the level that Sarosh played last year(4.0), I don't think he would really need to do that....

Anonymous said...

Kallus glad to hear you admit Sarosh is a better Tennis Player than you. I would like to see Schmucker admit the same. Everybody already knows Sarosh is better than him, its 50/50 if Kern is.

Anonymous said...

Headline News -

Sarosh wins Women 2.5 Singles by default in San Antonio.

Anonymous said...

That guy was a world ranked junior? What a joke, he wouldnt be ranked in my neighborhood. By the way, whats most funny is that he may have been a good player in a little village wherever he grew up in india, but i know of at least 10 indian guys here in houston who have and would continue to WOOOP his ass till the day his little rugrat is old and gray. gosh i feel sorry for that little thing--the kid is going to grow up not knowing his daddy is a numskull.

Anonymous said...

Sarosh is a world class tennis player. he is not a 4.5 nor 5.0 player. he should be playing in the ATP tour.

Anonymous said...

I have to ask, do any of you posting all this bullshit about Sarosh really know the guy? Based on comments, he must have slept with your wives or girlfriends and they dumped you for him.

Anonymous said...

Not only is Sarosh a great tennis player, he's also a casanova? Give me a Break!

Anonymous said...

Yes, you are correct. He stole our girlfriends and are now with him.

Anonymous said...

Sarosh's Stud Service is now open for business. Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Doesn't anyone on this Blog have anything else to say other than Sarosh. Sarosh, Sarosh, and more Sarosh?

This Blog used to be interesting now it just plain sucks because it's the same old same old.

Move on to something else.

Anonymous said...

Kallus looks like a good pick up for a 4.0 team. Either his game stinks this year or he is tanking.
Jason Warren a 4.0 player spanked him at San Antonio.

Anonymous said...

Any one who is a league (not tournement) player would know Kallus has never been a 4.5 player.

Tournament tennis in texas sucks. The quality is so low.

Anonymous said...

Tournament players love to fool themself into thinking their better than they truly are. Then when they play league they complain that every one is a sand bagger.

Look at the joke of a 4.5 draw at Kingwood. Juan Pacheco??? Ken Sjoberg? My grandmother could beat those two. Barerra is the only one who could hang in 4.5 league

Anonymous said...

Thomas Reader is a pussy. Get your cocksucking ass in open. Trent Broach would beat Reader 6-0 and he is a 4.5. Or 5.5 whats the difference when it comes to league right Tim Green.

Anonymous said...

i agree with the previous post. a real tennis match is ad scoring and you play out the third set. i believe most of my tournament lost are to guys that i would beat if i was not worn out from the previous matches.

Instead of you guys talking about each other and ripping on each other, how about briefly talking about some of the local hot women tennis players.

OMG!! There we go again! We are back to Sarosh topic all over again.

Why doesn't this Jackass (the one who is dying to play Sarosh at COKE)just call upon him and deal with him personally and not bore the hell out of us by posting all his BS.

Seems like Sarosh must have eloped with this guys girlfriend or wife....lol!

Anonymous said...

Sarosh won't sign up for COKE Major Zone because it's not a 100 pts tournament!

Anonymous said...

If the sarosh taunter was any good he'd sign his name to his posts.

Anonymous said...

Is Jason Warren a 4.0 player's 4.0 or is he part of the Sarosh, Jason Kern 4.0 pack? If he spanked Kallus that bad he probably is not a 4.0 player. Kallus is by no means a good 4.5 by league standards and probably not even by tournament standards anymore but he has always given me a very tough match and I hold my own in 4.5s. Maybe it had to do with how their games matched up cause Kallus usually self-destructs if his opponents does not hit the ball with a lot of pace.

Anonymous said...

I was there watching and Kallus seemed like he was off his game and Warren was hitting his shots and moving him pretty good. I believe he is a 4.5 player, that's what his rating says.

Anonymous said...

I don't know much about Warren or how he plays since he was a 4.0 last year.

Anonymous said...

warren was 31-10 last year in 4.0 with most of his losses coming to top 10 players. He has a consistent baseline game with good placement but no real "weapon". He will do fine in 4.5 especially against players with a similar game to his or one who is mistake prone. He is very quick and makes you hit that extra shot. I've only seen Kallus play for about ten minutes but he seems to want to rally with you more than overpower so I could see warren playing him tough even when Kallus is healthy which frankly I don't think he is presently. I think however the main misconception is that every 4.5 player is better than every 4.0 player etc. It simply doesn't work like that. There are people who want to stay at a higher level because they think they are stronger than they are. Therefore the top players at the lower level are probably at least towards the middle of the next level. For example Tuyen won 4.0 Abilene while never even making a 3.5 final last year. Former 3.5 Ismael made the semis at 4.0 at SA. Warren, Ratana and myself have done decently in 4.5 MZs. Reader wins 5.0 easily while not totally dominating 4.5 last year. So much has to do with matchups. "1 point", I mean Foad is 0-4 in MZs this year while finishing 4th overall last year in 4.0. Maybe playing players without pace hurts Foad or does everybody think all of a sudden hes a 3.5. Just because the computer says you're a 4.5 doesn't mean you should beat every 4.0. You have to be playing well or be in playing shape because there is not always a huge difference between people just because the computer says so.

Anonymous said...

It's not the " Coke " anymore, it's the Gallery Furniture open.

Anonymous said...

When Kallus is on he is very consistent and can do some real damage running his opponent around with his flat forehand. When he is off, all you have to do is show up for the match and he will be himself. When he loses, he tends to lose by pretty lopsided scores and I think a lot of the time he throws in the towel too soon and tanks instead of stepping it up and fighting. Because of that, I don't know what one can make of Warren. Probably more telling is the fact that Warren took a guy that beat Sanchez 3 and 3 to a third set tiebreak in the next round, so obviously he is a pretty solid player. All of the top 4.0 guys from last year will do well at 4.5 this year if they play enough tournaments. Most of the reigning top 4.5 tournament guys were former 4.0 guys until they were bumped for winning to much so why should anyone be shocked that a Warren, a Kern, or a Sarosh would do well against current 4.5s?

Anonymous said...

Hi Kern,

No one is more disappointed by last weekend's result than yours truly.

I'm recovering from flu. I'll be back hopefully soon. The season is
still young and I'm not panicking yet.

Foad

Anonymous said...

Fcuk Gallery Furniture, I'm still calling it the COKE.

Anonymous said...

FOAD sucks! He is yet to win a match at 4.0 this year. He even lost in the first round of consolation.
It can't get worse than that Mr. Foad. You need to start with 3.5's all over again :-)

Kallus sucks.

This is Odion Dibua. I never post on this blog (even when I was being hammered last year) and this is probably the only time I'm ever going to post something. I don't do all the posting stuff but I do enjoy reading this, it is hilarious. I must say though, the Sarosh talk and Reader talk needs to end already. Most of the people saying this stuff don't even know these guys. I have played both of them (Reader once in doubles, Sarosh in singles almost every week). The results of those matches don't matter; what does matter is that both of these guys are NICE, RESPECTABLE AND CLASSY guys and there is no reason for this blog to be dragging their names in the mud. All this talk gives people the wrong impression about both of these guys and fuels others saying worse things that these guys don't deserve at all. They are both excellent tennis players and very cool guys and should be spoken of as such or just left alone.

Odion (I know I already said that)

Anonymous said...

it is hilarious... u suck too Odion

The two sandbaggers are playing together. What a joke.

Anonymous said...

Odion,

Sarosh is a nice guy with you because you have game so it's good to hear that he respects that. If he can hang with you, it is an even bigger joke that the guy was playing 4.0 last year and 3.5 the year before. Even you never sandbagged that badly.

Anonymous said...

Odion and Sarosh hitting together????? Wow!!!
I guess these two are getting ready to dominate the 5.0 and 4.5's this year.

We need someone to stop these guys from doing so! Lord help us!!!!

Anonymous said...

Guys, I saw Sarosh play for the first time around 2 years back when he played the 3.5 coke.

I think that was probably his first USTA tournament if i'm not mistaken and all I want to say is that I don't think he was playing half as good as what he is playing today. He sure has and there will be quite a few out there that will agree with me that he has improved his game a lot.

Maybe then he was a true 4.0 and was playing down at 3.5 and last year he was a true 4.5 playing down at 4.0. The good part now is that he is a true 4.5 and finally playing 4.5 so there should be no problem.

Moreover I checked his results and seems like he only played one 3.5(coke) and one 4.0 (coke)sanctioned tournament. Maybe he was just testing the waters then and now that he knows what 4.5 is, he would be comfortable staying here and proving himself at MZ's.

The Journeyman needs to start a new poll now for Coke/Gallery Open:

1.) Who would win the 5.0 at Coke
and
2.) Who would win the 4.5 at Coke.

Something on these lines. I think it would be fun for all of us.

Anonymous said...

I will do polls for 5.0, 4.5, and even 4.0 once the competitor lists are finalized. Til then we will just have to go with the assumption that Sarosh will take the title at all 3 levels. If we keep talking about the guy so much he is going to end up with an endorsement deal from Nike or Wilson. New rule - each postor is only allowed one Sarosh-related comment per day.

Anonymous said...

Hey Journey Man,

You mean he will take the title in Women 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0, right?

Anonymous said...

how did you see the competitors list? can you provide a link.

Anonymous said...

I haven't seen the list yet. That is why I will have to wait to put up a poll that fairly reflects the strongest contenders. I think I will also do one so you can vote on who is most likely to lose in the first round.

Anonymous said...

How can you Houston people claim to be any good at tennis. All y'all do is talk about this Sarosh guy. Get outside and hit some balls. Maybe you will then be able to compete with Dallas. Maybe one of y'all can set up some type of Sarosh-cam so you can achieve your goal of 24 hours of Sarosh. Go Mavs!!

Kind of hard to compare the 4.0 league sectional final of 2007 if we are talking about now since all those Houston ringers are now 4.5 and the Dallas team only had one bump up to 4.5. Let's see how this year goes. Dallas will take 4.5 as well this year and heck as long as we are claiming titles we will take 3.5 as well unless Sarosh has a younger brother that is self rating as we speak.

Houston will have an awesome 4.5 summer league team this year and will be the favorites at sectionals and probably at national level too.

There is Copperfield, Kingwood team, Hangovers and maybe even Freeman's team.
Whoever comes out of the citywide championships will be one hell of a team with almost 5 power packed lines.

I think if Alfonso Rodriguez plays 4.5's he'll win the draw. He was a top junior player and one of the top 4.5's in the state about 3-4 years ago but has not played a lot of major zones since that time.

He would have won sectionals last year (destroyed Phillip Griggs in the 2nd round and was up 6-2 on David Luedke in the round of 16) if he had not gotten sick in the 2nd set and thrown up multiple times during the match.

He walked through the draw at SAPTA despite a Herculean effort by Trautmann in the quarters to take Alfonso to a tiebreak (Alfonso was cruising 4-1 in the tiebreaker before Trautmann mysteriously retired with a shoulder injury despite his play not showing any signs of an injury).

I'm not sure if he'll play since its a far drive from Mcallen, but if he signs up my money is on him.

Alfonso Rodriguez was no top junior. Think he topped out around 100 or so in 18's. That said hes a pretty good tournament 4.5 player. Brunsman was higher up in the junior rankings and dominated 4.5 at the same time but I believe he was moved up to 5.0. What about Trautman was he ranked anywhere in 18's.

Trautmann retired for his fourth tournament in a row this last week (after he got to the semis or finals). Who is the biggest sandbagger in Texas?
