Time for Tyler Talk
I will wait for the draws to come out before making any of my worthless Tyler predictions. I can say that I am confident that Alfonso Rodriguez will not win 4.5 this time around. Remember back in early spring, when every other post was "Sarosh this" and "Sarosh that"? The guy is all but forgotten and Alfonso seems to have emerged as the new 4.5 focal point. Not much else to add right now, but it was time for a new discussion string anyway as the other one had gotten quite lenghtly and had way too much talk of Knutson vs. X. I am obviously to blame as well since I was the one who put up the polls. Someone asked for a Knutson vs. Reader poll but I won't even waste the time on that one cause a poll result of Knutson 1, Reader 39 just seems mean.

Schmucker and Goldberg are considered trash talkers? This blog is really getting low. I am surprised Kallus was not included as much as people bash him as well. Goldberg and Schmucker are nice guys another idiot posting crap again.
I know Schmucker's job at Best buy has been killing him this year and he is trying to find another job. He barely plays once a week now so his results at tournaments this year are not that good. I try to hit with Schmucker when I can and he is laid back person who has nothing bad to say about anyone.
Kallus only trash talks himself.
Schmucker is a cool dude. his game is just in a rut. players are realizing that he is uncomfortable at the net and they are taking advantage of it.
Kallus is definitley not a trash talker but I am convinced he is purposely trying to get bumped down. His record this year sucks and last night he was playing league two courts over from me and was returning Michael Giordanelli's serves left handed and laughing at how bad he was getting his ass kicked. Guess he has finally realized he cannot hang with the true 4.5s.
Kallus should be ashamed of himself.
Kallus is a whiner, he is not a thrash talker. I have never heard him once praise himself for anything he does on the court. I have heard him make excuses for everything that he does wrong. That's not trash talk. Dinker is a thrash talker. Reader is a thrash talker. But they both back it up with a game that supports their high opinions of themselves.
Here you guys go again with the Kallus bashing. I don't get it because I have known him since he started playing tournaments and though he is a "character", I have never had anything bad to say about the guy. What is sad is that I am willing to bet that half the people who get on here and post mean things about him are actually the same guys who have no problem hanging around and joking with him at tournaments. You Houston guys are so two-faced with each other. Not to say it is not the same in San Antonio or Dallas, but you guys seem to be rather proud of how bad you treat one another.
I noticed that Kallus got his ass kicked by a Mob Squad guy the week before too. There are at least 8 guys on that team who would kill him. There is no need for him to tank.

Do you really think he would start playing 4.0 again if he got bumped down? Maybe USTA league. But what about tournaments? Even if he is getting his ass kicked in league, he has still won enough matches in tournaments to be in the top 10. Would USTA bump down a guy with a .500 win/loss tournament record at his current level? I am just curious cause I don't have a great record at 4.5 in the 3 years I have played it and the USTA still leaves me here. Do I need to appeal to get bumped down since I don't play league tennis?
Kallus will be bumped down. He is losing league matches which count much more heavily in your rating than tournament matches. Lost Forest will have a nice 4.0 singles player in 2009.
He actually could probably win an appeal if he tried to right now.

Foad, Kallus is a much better player than you. I would give you a chance if you guys decided to see who could "whine" the most.
I'm not sure how many wins they could generate but a Kallus and Foad singles dou in 4.0 summer league sure would be fun to watch and full of drama.

It was wicked hot without the hint of a breeze today in Tyler....the tournament should be fun.

Herb M vs Jason Gound in the first round will be a tough 5.0 match in Tyler. So will Andres B vs Tim G.

Looks like Kallus will lose first round to Leach. Another wasted trip for him. Schmucker has a very easy draw, but will he make the trip. Perhaps another matchup between JD Miles and Knutson. LOng match between Goldberg and Noel.
My pick would have to be Schmucker for this tournament, but depends if he goes.
Kallus and Leach are 1-1 against each other and style-wise match up very well. I would give Chris a definite hometown advantage. If it was a second match of the day situation, I would say the heat would definitely favor Kallus. But 1st match of the day, I would go with Chris but I do not see this as a cake-walk situation.
What about Goldberg vs. Corey Noel. That's gonna be a 3 sets match at least.
Goldberg, you better be willing to come to the net or you will definitely be out there for 3 hours.
Kallus, unfornately even if you were 10-0 against Leach, I think the same lame people would post the same negative crap about you. Just ignore and good luck.

Knutson's fat ass will not be able to handle the heat in Tyler. Since it has become much hotter I really do not see Knutson advancing not just in Tyler, but San Antonio and for sure FT Worth.

I wish either part of that were true. I was doubtful to go anyway, but now I just found out my wife fell down the ladder leading up into our attic (don't ask)and broke her foot in two places so I will be shocked if I am able to go to Tyler.

League play is what affects your rating, tournament play has very little to do with it. Tim is not tanking, but even if he was, he could not tank enough tournaments to get bumped down.
