WindFest 2009

Can you hear them winds a blowing? Do you like it? Well, then Corpus is just the tournament for you. Not going to comment much on this one. My early pick for 4.5 winner is Alejandro Sanchez. Moser should make it to semis and maybe even the finals if he comes to net with his major wing span. I am probably short changing someone but I will wait til there is a draw before I go any further. As far as 5.0, I cannot call it. 50/50 toss-up and a shame too because someone will be driving 235 miles to turn around and come home with 1 point. 5.0 has never had much of a draw down in Corpus but this one takes the cake. Only comparable draw I can think of was the Abiline draw of a few years back where Schmucker played against some other guy from Houston in a ABILENE FINAL played in Houston. I assume Reggie and John will at least be making the drive down to Corpus. Anyway, I am sure I will post again when there is an actual draw.

The key in playing in windy conditions is to never keep moving. You have to adjust to the flight of the ball in the air and specially when attempting to hit an overhead. No.

Rafa Nadal

The key to playing in the wind, as in all conditions, is to make sure to constantly pick your shorts out of your ass crack. Sometimes, I even like to smell my fingers...like Molly Shannon in that movie SUPERSTAR. No.

Also Nadal

Corpus Christi winner: James Sinard

Anonymous said...

Who is James Sinard?

Anonymous said...

He's signed up for 4.5 singles & doubles.

Anonymous said...

Who will win between?

Del Campo vs Patch
Morton vs San Miguel
Gloria vs Garcia
Sevin vs TBD

Anonymous said...

Kudos to John Patch for moving to 4.5.

Anonymous said...

Patchy over Del Campo
Morton over San Miguel
Gloria over Garcia
Sevin over TBD

Anonymous said...

John Patch is not a 5.0 player and should just play 4.5 anyways. Moser killed Patch in a warmup tournament before Gallery 6-1 6-0. So that tells you what level Patch is really.

Anonymous said...

Dude Men's 5.0 is a complete joke! Too bad the 5.0 players won't just play 4.5, but then again I believe none of them will win a Major Zone. Funny how Sanchez (4.5 tournament player) won a 5.0 MZ this year which proves my point.

John Patch will NOT win Corpus.

Anonymous said...

Patch is having a good year so far including winning the most recent Lost Forest 4.5 draw. You can't win all the time.

Anonymous said...

Has Sanchez ever won a 4.5 major zone?

Anonymous said...

Sanchez is two-time champion at Mabry (200 points).

Anonymous said...

James Sinard is ex college player. Sandbagger big time

Anonymous said...

Hey JM, can you get swine flu from kissing a good lookin chick?

Anonymous said...

Patchy over Del Campo NOT
Morton over San Miguel POSSIBLE
Gloria over Garcia POSSIBLE BUT UNLIKELY
Sevin over TBD NOT

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have some good priceline rates?

Anonymous said...

You don't think Gloria will beat Garcia? How did Garcia beat Scott Sevin then get destroyed by Schmucker in the next round? Did Sevin make a lot of errors?

Hey! It was good to see Lord Of the Strings finally write in!This thing has been so boring lately.By the way we attended his 3.5 clinic that he holds on thursday mornings,(it was fabulous!!)and his back is a lot better so I would watch out for that sexy man in a future major zone to silence all of those doubters out there.Good to have you back Lord.

Anonymous said...

'that sexy man', darling you need to get your eyes checked right away.

3.5 Ladies in S.A said...

We don't agree with the language he uses, but he does have a great ass and very nice legs. He also has a good point, whenever someone takes a stab at him,it's ALWAYS under anonymous. It's also a turn on with us ladies,he speaks his mind and lets you know excactly who he is and how you can reach him.

Anonymous said...

Long live Lord of the Strings, Thomas Reader.

Hahaha the Goth band comment was funny.

2009 Corpus Christi Picks,

Men's Open - Amit Garg
Men's 4.5 - Alejandro Sanchez
Men's 4.0 - Tuyen Nguyen
Men's 3.5 - Scott Canann

Nuff said.

Why is it a turn on to the ladies that a married fat man with a nose ring (more like a handle)talks a bunch of shit in cyberspace? I need to move to San Antonio if the ladies there are really that easy to impress.

Anonymous said...

Reader is a solid 4.5 player. He backs the shit he says with his tennis. No one can dispute that, so he can get away with anything he says in here.

Anonymous said...

Which seeds will lose in the first round?

Anonymous said...

Here we go again with trash talk.

Anonymous said...

Here we go again. Nguyen and Sanchez are the favorites.

Anonymous said...

Hey Griffin....why did you drop out of 4.5s in Corpus?

Anonymous said...

Reader,

Some advice for you:

1) Try to finish you're GED then perhaps some fine college will accept you. Perhaps you can work on you're language skills to prepare you for a fine role as a public school teacher.

2) Wow you're ranking is so high in the worthless 5.0 division which always has 6 players in the draw. Hmm you say grow a pair then man up and PLAY OPEN. I will be there to watch Adrian destroy you. I know it would be hard to play Open since the draws are usually more than 6 - 8 players and guess what you won't have to play the same player throughout the year over and over again.

3) For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would take lessons from you. In fact you cannot post anything on this blog that is intelligent.....see 1) above.

Send me you're address so I can send you the book, "How to Master the English Language".

Griffin didn't want to lose in the first round against a big ringer.

Anonymous said...

Reader, please stay off this blog.

4.5 consolation winner: Sevin

Anonymous said...

The TD wrote this:
‘AS OF 1:00, APRIL 30, 2009, THE TEXAS SECTION HAS NOT CANCELLED ANY EVENTS INCLUDING THE BUCCANEER DAYS ADULT MAJOR ZONE.

IF THERE ARE ANY UPDATES OR CHANGES, INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED ON THE TOURNAMENT HOME PAGE.’

What's this about? Is he worried about swine flu outbreak in CC?

Anonymous said...

To post 2:02pm awesome! I couldn't stop laughing way too funny. You really nailed Reader thats for sure.

Anonymous said...

Hey JM, can catch swine flu by hitting tennis balls. My opponent will be touching the same tennis balls I would be touching. No offense to anyone, but I ain't shaking hands no more with anyone after the match.

Anonymous said...

Sevin will beat Sinard, but Sevin is only good for one match.

Anonymous said...

I will skip coming to the net against local guys in Corpus.

Anonymous said...

If Sevin is only good for one match, how did he make it to the San Antonio finals? His second round is easier.

Anonymous said...

you say skip...I think skip as in not do something....but you mean skip like a little ferry

Anonymous said...

Check it out....player's names in the draws are hyperlinked to their tournament records.

Anonymous said...

ferry = fairy

That's so true, every time someone insults Reader,it's some anonymous whimp. It's approaching rediculous. I think he's right, if you are going to make personal attacks on the guy,at least be a man and leave your name...It's pathetic.

Anonymous said...

JM,

What are you talking about this entire blog is personal attacks on here?

Why don't you make people sign up with an account instead of anonymous all the time?

journeyman said...

Since I don't know where this JM guy might go with his posts, I just want to clarify that JM is not short for Journeyman. Perhaps it is Jochen Moser. Just don't want to get drawn into the current stream of unidentified masses versus Thomas Reader. Someone please call him already.

Anonymous said...

Let's talk about Houston tennis. These attacks are ridiculous. Next Houston tourney is copperfield. Will it be a decent sized 4.5 draw?

Anonymous said...

Wasn't selling (or maybe giving away) pop shots at his butt about a month back????? Is this the sexy guy you are thinking?

Anonymous said...

That is Reader of course from the last blog. Also wasn't he the one threatening to rip everyone a new a hole if they didn't spell check their blogs??? Loosen up dude. Maybe I shouldn't say that,,, relax dude.

Anonymous said...

Any predictions from the current list of 4.5 MS players for the upcoming Copperfield tournament?

Anonymous said...

so what happened in corpus??? jochen quit?? any details..

Anonymous said...

Congrats to the Corpus Christi champions. To win in those conditions takes a lot of guts.

I know the gallery was twice the size of the Bucc tourney but the CCTA put on a great event. Well ran and really proffessional. Several things the HTA can learn from them.

Houston player

Anonymous said...

Hey JM, the winds on Saturday afternoon in Corpus Christi were gusting at 65 MPH. To me my friends is ‘not’ tennis. That is why I will skip this tourney next year, and the year after that, and the year after that and so on...

Anonymous said...

Why defend Reader? The poster before is complaining about Readers language nothing more. No reason to curse up a storm on this blog.

$5,000 Prize Money Doubles Shoot Out said...

Check it out, Northgate Country Club is hosting an amateur prize money tournament.

Anonymous said...

Who won the Copperfield tourney?

CoreDawg said...

We no longer have this problem on the Dallas blog since you are required to create a username to post. The volume of posts is smaller but the quality of the content is much improved. I have noticed the volume at this blog has gone down quite a bit in the last few months so it would be worth a try. Then we'll see how bold everybody is to make personal attacks.

Anonymous said...

This Northgate tournament looks like an absolute joke. No surprise though as it looks like Ken Olivier has finally been run out of Tyler, and now is polluting Houston with his lies about his 3 days stint on the satelite tour.

Anonymous said...

that's right, let's censor this blog and make it just as boring as the Dallas Blog is now. It's so cool Coredog is on this blog promoting what......I forget? We are so happy for your happiness.

Anonymous said...

Coredog...would fit right in iran, with the censorship crap.

Sarosh has the most votes for 4.5 player. I'm assuming Sarosh voted for himself multiple times as well as his family members.

Anonymous said...

How can Sarosh think so highly of himself and lose that many matches in 4.5. Doesn't reality hit sooner or later. Sarosh, does 2+2=5 in your world?

Anonymous said...

Give Ken Oliver some credit for trying to breathe fresh life into the Houston tourney scene.

Anonymous said...

Hey journey man, how about YOU give Reader a call. Then you can write about how he verbally ripped you a new one and how he threatened your family. As for myself, I will digress. I hate to be another anonymous loser, but will sleep better at night knowing my family is safe.

3.5 ladies in S.A said...

Was that really you journeyman? Wow, if it was,You have got the biggest pair of...oh hold on a second, aren't you anonymous too? Maybe instead of telling Reader to grow up,why don't you grow a pair?

Anonymous said...

Well said ladies, Well said

Anonymous said...

Hey leave Journeyman alone, he is my friend.

journey man said...

It was not me. I am not looking to get into thrash talking match with LOTS.

Anonymous said...

Who gives a crap about Reader. All he does is swear on here. Not very intelligent if you ask me.

Anonymous said...

So, who won the Copperfield tourney?

Anonymous said...

Giving olivier credit is like giving cancer credit,,,,,,bad idea

Anonymous said...

Perry will win Copperfield 4.0 singles without loosing a set. Everyone else should pull out before the draw in made and save $29.

Take the $29 and spend it on your mother for Mother's Day this weekend.

Anonymous said...

No way man. It's gonna be James Rice all-the-way in Men's 4.0 baby at Copperfield.

Anonymous said...

So who won the Copper Field? How did Reader do? Let's hear the scoop?

Anonymous said...

Hey Reader, is there a special store you buy your nose rings from? I want one just like yours? But I'm going to hide mine under my panties!

Anonymous said...

You tell him 'Lord'. Long live Lord of the Strings, Thomas Reader.

Anonymous said...

Copperfield picks:

Men's Open - Hugo Spratley
Men's 4.5 - Greg Schmucker
Men's 4.0 - Tuyen Nguyen or James Rice

Anonymous said...

Men 4.5...
my pick is ricardo martinez. he spanked schmucker 0,2 and beat moser in the semis at the fall fest.

Anonymous said...

ok...I go with that.

Anonymous said...

How about a new post for the Copperfield tourney?

Anonymous said...

I think Schmucker will take the 4.5's, but don't count out Wayne Morgan either. Surprised Jochen Moser is not playing.
