Juneteenth....Time for the Chase.
Hey, with my focus currently on Wimbledon, I will let you guys have at it with regard to the all-important (sarcastic) Juneteenth event this weekend. In my past, I had a policy of "NO Consolation = No Play Tourney", so I have never been a big fan of this event. Obviously, the biggest question this weekend will be whether or not a real person by the name of Patrick Chase shows up at Juneteenth as a spectator. I am in the camp that says no he will not as he does not exist other than in the typings of a wayward tennis player.

Unless the tournament is a "doubles only" tournament, consolation is never offered in doubles events. Does anyone know why this is?
Why Juneteenth doesn't have a Consolation Rd. for Singles? If I recall last year, they had consolation in singles because it was a USTA 100 pts. event.
I really don't care who Patrick Chase is, but I like his writings.
I'm going to be pissed if they impose the heat rule, and offer no consolation.

There is no consolation for Juneteenth. Just make sure you try your best to win your first round match. The only tournament I can think of that uses the heat rule is FT Worth Major Zone. I want to play FT Worth this year, but if they use the heat rule I will not sign up. I mean what is the point?
It looks like they won't be offering consolation. The heat rule will probably be at TDs discretion. Temperature forecast for this weekend is in upper 90s.

I think Patrick Chase is a straight up guy... he sounds cool to me. The only thing I have to disagree with is Kallus. Those Kallus jokes are kinda funny and I'm sure Kallus is not to offended.
Lance Jones was down 5-0 in a third set at Tyler and came back and won the match 7-5 in the third. Way to man up Lance.
i just sent an email to the TD of the Juneteenth, asking about why there is no consolation in singles. this is the only tournament that i know that doesn't offer it. i also want to know why we are playing our first matches on friday, if there is no consolation to occupy courts.
i wonder if i'll get a response.
this is what i received from the TD office at the Juneteenth. this did not come from sandra joseph, but someone else there.
and I quote, "As a general rule, only USTA Major Zone and Sectional Sanctioned Tournaments offer consolation matches. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me or Sandra Joseph."
um.... maybe it's just me, but i can't think of a tournament that i've played in the last 5+ years that didn't offer consolation in singles (sanctioned / not sanctioned, 100 pts, 200 pts, 400 pts, 600 pts, etc.)
I say it again, Sandra Joseph is a complete Moron.
Just win your first round match and you will be alright. Make bad line calls if you have to.

Playing Kallus in the first round is a good way to avoid consolation. You just have to listen to a whiny pussy the whole time who can;t admit he is an embarrassment.

That last comment is the stupidest thing I have read on this shitty blog. I don't think there is a nicer guy (or more generous to his opponents on the court, i.e. line calls) than Kallus. His problem if you ask me is that he is too nice and at 4.5 you cannot let your opponents walk all over you. What is your problem with the guy cause you really sound stupid.
Ok, Chris Leach is nicer, but other than Chris, Kallus is the nicest. You are not by any chance a short, fat guy who likes to dip chew while playing and always resorts to the underhanded serve when things aren't working, are you?
