New Week, New Discussion Thread, Same old crap....

Since we were past 100 posts again on the last thread I went ahead and started a new one. Still nothing new to talk about other than the approaching deadline for registering for the Corpus Christi Hurricane Tennis Challenge (or Buc Days Major Zone as it is also known). With nothing more to add at the moment, I will turn it over to you guys for a new round of bashing each other...well, more like bashing the same 2 or 3 people over and over again but you know what I mean. Have at it.

There's tight line calls and there's hooking. i call my lines tight, against others that do the same. i loosen up my calls during practice matches. i'll return the favor to my opponents whom i feel should have call one of my balls out. if my opponent has any doubts about a call i made, i'll double check the mark if any. if i'm wrong, then i'll overrule my own calls. i'll this is tennis etiquette.

Whatever dude. If it's in, then it's in and if it's out, then it's out. Remember the K.I.S.S. rule.

Captain Hook believes if it's out then it's out; if it's in then it's out.

And a pleasant hello to you too, lord of the strings.

We're not worthy lord of the strings! "Long live lord of the strings".

I guess I am at the point of being bored on this blog. So I will ask this question, does anyone have any particular matches they would like to see in Corpus next month.

Anonymous said...

wow, overruled 7 times in a match. that trautmann dude is worst then the great "S". what if trautmann and sarosh played each other. every point would be out.

Anonymous said...

If Sarosh served 1st and held it would not matter because Trautman would have quit by then anyway

Anonymous said...

How funny....lol.

Journeyman, how about that 15 yrs old kid kicking butts at US Clay Courts Championships at River Oaks? I don't think I was ever that good when I was his age! More power to him although he may end up playing James Blake in the 2nd Rd.

Anonymous said...

On one hand it is great for the kid and by association very good for Newcombe's. However, it also shows how weak the draw is at River Oaks. By comparison, even last year's draw at Westside looks strong. Did anyone notice that there were only 14 or so guys who even bothered to play qualifying whereas most challengers and satelite tournaments have full 32 qualifying draws. The number 6 seed in the qualifying was a guy ranked outside of the top 1000. He basically had a single atp point for having lost a prior match in a future or challenger within the last 12 months. At least River Oaks has a very nice faciltiy going for it. I don't miss Westside but I do think River Oaks was better off with just the Invitational instead of an actual ATP event. Good luck to them.

Journeyman knows his ATP. I'm impressed!

The winner of the Gallery Furniture Men's Open (Coke Open), Evghenii CORDUNEANU lost in the qualifying Rds on Saturday. Here's the result:
LIPSKY, Scott (8) def CORDUNEANU, Evghenii (MKD) 62 62

With such a weak draw at this year's US Men’s Clay Courts Championship, I’m surprised "the Great S" didn't qualify or received a wild card entry!

Kallus is an idiot

Anonymous said...

preach on brother

Anonymous said...

A minister needs to practice before he preaches. I think you mean "practice what you preach".

Anonymous said...

Crazy up day in market today. Way too busy to be provoked into posting something stupid in response to name-calling. Maybe tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

Kallus just blow it off and try not to provoke these idiots in order to get to you. We know you're a cool dude, man. So don't sweet it!

Anonymous said...

Journeyman, tonight James Blake takes on that 15 yrs old kid (Ryan Harrison). I'm predicting a blow out. Blake def. the Kid 6-2, 6-0.

Anonymous said...

shut up Foad!

Anonymous said...

Blake better win. Donald Young got spanked by everyone he faced his first year as a pro when he kept getting wild cards into events that he did not deserve. It is already an accomplishment that he won his 1st round match. I do think the match might possibly go 3 sets cause I still find Blake's clay court game a bit suspect and his past success at River Oaks was on the previous clay surface which played much faster than what they have now. Will be interesting to see how this kid develops over the next 5 years.

Some 4.5 teams should really consider getting into the NOHO league before it is too late. It could be a much easier way into sectionals for teams that are used to making the playoffs.

Anonymous said...

Blake needed just 50 minutes to eliminate the Texas teen (the kid), who earlier this week won his first ever tour match. Score was 6-3, 6-2.

Anonymous said...

Not very many entrants for the Corpus tournament

Anonymous said...

foad and kallus are tools

Anonymous said...

Tools, huh? That's a new one. Where does that rank in order with moron, idiot, complainer, whiner, and the simple yet ever popular "kallus sucks"? I feel priviledged that someone finds me worthy of the time wasted to post a daily insult. I look forward to tomorrow's.

Anonymous said...

Kallus, do you post these daily insults about yourself to make yourself feel good?

Anonymous said...

anyone have a guess how big the draw will be in the 4.5 draw? 16? 32? 64?

Anonymous said...

Mens 4.5 Entrants
James, Eric - San Antonio
Knutson, Kristopher - Spring
Nash, Bradley - Tomball
Patton, Richard - Missouri City
Solis, Leonardo - San Benito
Thau, William - Corpus Christi

As of tonight!!!!
Entry Deadline Tomorrow

I would be shocked if Alfonso Rodriguez did not sign up for this one. If Trautman does not go I wonder if that indicates he is either truly injured or already throwing in the towel since he probably does not think he can beat Alfonso for #1. Where the hell is Casas? Is he also now living in fear since he has no chance of beating Alfonso for top dog in the valley? Who knows. It could also be because people have realized you can save $3 per event by mailing in your entry instead of signing up online.

Corpus could be the result of rising gas prices. People are just watching what they are spending now. Will be interesting if there is fewer entrants for the other Major Zones.

Anonymous said...

I think the last comment in dead on. Corpus is the second longest drive from Houston behind Abiline. It is by far the longest drive for anyone who lives north of Houston. With gas approaching $3.50, it will cost $80+ just to drive. Plus Corpus is probably the worst run of any of the Major Zones, and it is so windy that it comes down to who can push and dink the best. All that in mind, it is no surprise that Corpus always has the second smallest draw behind Abilene.

Anonymous said...

Abilene used to the be the zone that the "point chasers" would sign up for because the draws were so small.

Anonymous said...

With the price of gas keep going up, whoever finishes #1 in the state is the one with the most gas efficient burning car that can travel all Major Zones in Texas!

Anonymous said...

I blame George W. for not being #1 this year. He made my gas go up.

Anonymous said...

Whatever dude.

Anonymous said...

Dude, quit hating on Kallus. He's a cool guy and a decent tennis player. Take a chill pill and call me in the morning dude.

Anonymous said...

Today's daily insult is pretty weak, mainly because I am not a broker. But I appreciate the effort.

Anonymous said...

but you understand danny

Anonymous said...

Kallus if you are not a broker then what do you. Someone in an old post said you give excellent financial advice.

Anonymous said...

Other than the fact that I am definitely not a broker, it doesn't matter what I do exactly. For the purposes of this blog, I play recreational tennis....and apparently badly.

Anonymous said...

go spurs!

Anonymous said...

Was the Corpus deadline extended? Could someone post the 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 entrants?

Anonymous said...

You can look up the players at:
www.ustatexas.org
Look up tournament schedules and then 2008 & month of May. Not very hard!

the summer league blog is heating up.

looks like the Great "S" will finally make his first appearance. tickets are sold out!

Danny is a financial advisor for a large firm here in Houston. If I were you I would seek a second opinion. Happy tennis playing boys

Anonymous said...

Someone or someones have some issues with Kallus. I suggest go and hit some tennis balls man and leave Kallus be.

Anonymous said...

No shit, I am point hunting. Why the hell do you think I play 20 tournaments a year every year all over the state? Public Service? I have never tried to hide the fact that I have to play a ton of tournaments in hopes of finishing with a good ranking. Why I care about a ranking is a better question and one to which I really do not have an answer. It's 50/50 whether I can or would actually go to Corpus but I won't be making Waco and possibly Tyler this year because of family plans so I thought I would sign up for Corpus just in case it works for me to go to that one.

As to my job, since it seems to be of such interest. I am a partner and portfolio manager at an institutional money management firm here in Houston. Basically managing pension and endowment money in mid & large cap growth stocks. (For comparison, if you had your money in a mutual fund, I am the guy picking the stocks that the mutual fund is invested in ) And, no I do not suck at it. It may not sound like it but it is a far cry from being a stock broker or financial advisor who gets paid for giving individuals advice. If someone asks, I try to help, but it's not what I do on a daily basis.

Anonymous said...

I think it is funny the Greg S. and Kallus will sign up for a tournament and if they don't like the draw will not play.

Anonymous said...

Kallus never said if it the draw works for him, he does or does not go. If it works out for him that he can go is why he signed up for it. Kallus just likes to play tennis, win or lose, complaining or whining, he will be there to play.

Anonymous said...

leave Kallus alone.. he likely has a better job than most of you clowns here

Anonymous said...

Never said anything about his job, just a comment on Kallus's committment to play tournaments regardless of his draw. He could care less about who he plays. Kallus could win more matches, but if he feels as though he has no chance before he walks on the court, then he has lost the match before warming up.

Anonymous said...

You tell 'em Lord. Long live Lord of the Strings. BTW, why are you not playing in Buc Days?
