Rankings updated thru Sectionals.

Well, the ratings have been updated to reflect sectionals and if someone wants me to I can post the top 10s here but otherwise feel free to hit the link on the home page and check them out at the USTA website. Not many surprises as we have already seen who did what at Sectionals. Janek's record at 4.0 this year (49-6 I think) is pretty impressive and deserving of #1. Knutson at 17-1 was a bit surprising but also a good accomplishment including 2 wins over Janek. In 4.5, Kallus fell 1 spot and 75 points short of making the top 8. Just think, if you had closed out just one of the many match points you blew in majors this year, you would have had enough to make it in. I still am surprised the guy has finished as high as he is in doubles but it looks like he and Moser had some good wins and were competitive in almost all of their losses (3 third-set tie-break losses in Major Zones). Schmucker never really made a full commitment to 4.5 but still is sitting at #3. Felipe Wescoup deserves to be in top 8 of 5.0s but only has 3 tourney results so maybe there is time for him to get one or two more in before the sign up deadline for the master's cup. Hunckler has had a year worthy of #1 but also has not played enough tournaments to maximize his points. If he played and won Fall Fest and then did well at the Masters Cup he could still take home the top spot. Moser is still tied with Dibua for top spot in 4.5 despite not winning any majors, but he was definitely consistent with the exception of Sectionals. Not sure what happened there.

Actually, it is too late. Only results from September 22, 2006, through September 16, 2007, count. You can look it up here:

JourneyMan question for you. Why do you always put down Kallus in your posts? Recent one you tel Kallus if he only closed out some matches and you still seem surprise how successful Kallus and Moser played doubles this year.

I figured Kallus must beat you in singles and doubles so you just whine about him all the time. Just my thoughts on that.

Kallus is a pretty easy target becuase of his ridiculous on court behavior. Even if you beat Kallus 0 and 0 you still probably wouldn't have much nice to say about him.

Does anyone think Reader will show up for (as in actually attend) the Masters Tournament? It doesn't seem that he leaves the SA area to play in tournaments.

Unless it was intended to stir things up, I find that last comment about Kallus a bit surprising as he is one of nicest guys I have met in the tennis scene since moving to Houston a few years back. The most annoying thing I have seen the guy do is change shirts on almost every changeover. I have never seen the guy hook anyone, in fact he gives away way too many points and tells his opponent "nice shot" much more often than deserved. Is that ridiculous? Maybe you have had a different experience with him. I don't have a problem with the guy and I can name plenty of other guys that are outright asses on the court.

Before sectionals, I would have said there was no way Reader would miss the Master's Cup but since he didn't even bother to try playing the semis against Sevin, it looks like maybe he does not really care about the rankings per se but just wants to make sure the guys in SA know he is top dog from their group. We shall see. I agree with the last poster that the negative comment about Kallus seems a bit harsh. Acts a bit weird at times but to the point of having nothing nice to say...that is a stretch. Comments like that should be reserved for cheaters and arrogant a**holes. Either the poster has no sense of humor on the court or Kallus must have really done something extreme to piss him off.

Man, it sure sounds like someone out there hates me. I knew my tight line calling, gamesmanship, and all around bad attitude towards other people (you will never see me out there on the court trying to chit chat with my opponent on a changeover or complimenting a nice shot) would catch up with me eventually. Where's the guy who had the nice things to say about where I've gotten without formal training when I need him?

Any comments on how the Lone Star open tournament at Copperfield went in the 4.0 and 4.5's went this weekend?
